Entry from 12-1-05

Today is Alexa's 5th birthday! I can't believe its been 5 years since I was handed my firstborn, wrapped tightly in a pink blanket. You see, we were told she was a boy. Imagine our surprise when we heard "It's a girl!" And a girl she is... She loves anything pink and frilly, loves to dance and sing, and does not like getting dirty.

So then, we had to come up with a name. Afterall, we were having a boy, so we only came prepared with a boy name. The day before we were to bring her home, we decided on Alexa Renae. Alexa, because we liked the name, and the meaning, and Renae after my mom.

We brought her home on December 3rd, and it was like she'd always been there. Our pre-child lives seemed like a different lifetime all together. A boring lifetime. Having this new little life was so much fun! Five years later Alexa still fills our lives with fun, among many other wonderful things. She's truly one of a kind, and I feel blessed that I was given such a great kid, five years ago.
Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Love,
Mom, Dad, & Olivia Grace
