Kids had a great Easter weekend. Went to John's Grandma's house for Easter dinner. Kiddos had a blast with their Easter baskets. Friday night we colored eggs. Here are two pictures of final product. There were another dozen or so eggs that ended up cracked, so they turned in to our first batch of deviled eggs.
Funny story......We put Olivia in her highchair, set a container of dye in front of her, and put the egg in it for her to show her how it is done. First thing she does is pick it up and take a drink. The look on her face was priceless. Ewwwwww!

Alexa & Abby created some pretty neat eggs. They were bummed when it was time to go to bed. We started the egg coloring process at 8pm, so a dozen eggs later, it was well past bedtime.
I put them to bed, and a friend of mine and I finished the rest of the eggs. There were far too many eggs. I think we were decorating until close to midnight.
Scary thing also happened that night into following day. When the last batch of eggs was
finished boiling, my friend (not mentioning names hehe:) shut my stove off. She turned the wrong knob at first, thought she turned it back to the off setting and then shut the correct knob off. Turns out, the first knob she turned was on for SIXTEEN HOURS!!! The kids seemed fine, though they had been outside much of Saturday. I was sick to my stomach and had a headache. Thought I was just hungry but didn't feel like cooking. Packed the kids up to go have lunch with daddy, who was at work.
I have this quirky little OCD type thing where if I'm leaving the house, whether I've cooked or not, I have to check the stove to make sure it's off, otherwise the thought of a potential fire drives me nuts the entire time I'm gone. When I checked it before leaving is when I discovered the gas was on. I was in freak out mode, sent the kids to the van, opened the windows and we left. The entire drive to the store and to see John, all I kept thinking about is how blessed we are to still be here. How thankful I am for my 'stove checking habit." Had I not discovered it then, and we'd gone another night with the gas on, I don't think I'd be here typing this blog entry. Someone was definitely watching out for us. I think we are incredibly lucky to have made it through the Friday night and Saturday. Definitely thanking God that we are all ok!
