The things that make you question why

So far there has only been one event in my life that made me question why things happen the way they do. As most of you know, my cousin Heather was in a car accident when she was 17 that left her with a life altering brain injury. That accident changed the entire dynamic of our family. Those who stressed over the small things no longer did. My Uncle whom I've never seen show any kind of emotion suddenly softened. The things that were truly important had never been more clear.

Recently I found out that a relative of my step dad's has been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. She's only in her 30's. Another why. And a reminder not to sweat the small stuff. Enjoy each day for what it is and take nothing for granted. No one ever knows what tomorrow brings.

It's so easy to get caught up in things that don't matter. My goal is to be a more fun mom. Less likely to groan about the small things. So what the toys are scattered....So what that Olivia changes clothes 10 times per day.....So what Alexa leaves crayons all over. None of those things are truly important in the grand scheme of it all.

If Godforbid anything like the above ever happens to me, I want my kids to remember me for who I truly am and what they learned from me. I want to teach them that small stuff is just that....small on the list of what is important in life.

Thats awful about the cancer. When we lived in Rochester, my neighbor had it really bad. She had 3 babies under 4. I went up there when I could to bring dinner for their family or just play with their kids, so they could talk alone and enjoy each other..
They totally returned the favor when we moved here.. Their church came and helped us load the truck.
